Shakespeare's Sonnets:
"The Monument" Changes the Paradigm

SHAKE-SPEARES SONNETS were for "eyes not yet created" in future generations.
The author created a "double image" --
two completely different stories running simultaneously; one fiction, one nonfiction; one telling an imaginary love story, the other recording a dangerous story of royal blood and succession to Queen Elizabeth...
THE MONUMENT by Hank Whittemore reveals how the Sonnets have preserved "the living record" of a prince with "true rights" to be King of England; and in his blog Hank is writing a new book in short ongoing chapters that demonstrate how one hypothesis builds upon another to produce the Monument Theory, which offers the first comprehensive and coherent explanation of the 154 consecutively numbered verses printed four centuries ago in 1609.
The focus of the Sonnets is Henry Wriothesley, 3rd Earl of Southampton, the same young nobleman to whom "Shakespeare" pledged: "The love I dedicate to your Lordship is without end. What I have done is yours, what I have to do is yours, being part in all I have, devoted yours."
The heart of the story begins on the night of the failed Rebellion of February 8, 1601, when the earls of Essex and Southampton surrendered to the Crown.
The Sonnets reveal that Secretary Robert Cecil held Southampton hostage in the Tower until Queen
Elizabeth died and James of Scotland succeeded her -- leaving Cecil in place as the most powerful figure behind the throne.
REVIEW - By Janet Hamilton for MyShelf.com:
"Not to put too fine a point upon it, not only has Hank Whittemore shaken the spear of scholarship at Shakespeare’s authorship, but his huge and stunning masterpiece has shaken this reviewer with new vision and insight..."

THE MONUMENT demonstrates conclusively that Edward de Vere, 17th Earl of Oxford (1550-1604) wrote the Sonnets to preserve the truth of this history for posterity:
Your monument shall be my gentle verse,
Which eyes not yet created shall o'er-read!
Nor Mars his sword nor war's quick fire shall burn
The living record of your memory!

THE MONUMENT is a 930-page edition presenting all the 154 sonnets clarified line-by-line, with each summarized and paraphrased according to the newly discovered context that reveals this masterpiece of romantic poetry as also, and more importantly, a genuine historical document.
"Hank Whittemore has written the most important book on Shakespeare's Sonnets in 400 years. He has discovered that the 100 sonnets forming the central block of the collection have a strict calendar correspondence to events associated with the Essex Rebellion of 1601, specifically to the trial, imprisonment, and later release of the Earl of Southampton..." -- Dr. Charles V. Berney, Founding President The Shakespeare Fellowship
Hank Whittemore is now performing a one-man show based on THE MONUMENT, entitled SHAKE-SPEARES TREASON -- written with New York producer Ted Story, who directed the 90-minute performance. Visit us there at:
